The Opportunity
Between 1995 and the present, thousands of entrepreneurs started companies with the hopes of being the next Microsoft or Dell. Not all succeeded. Some of them hired too many people, expanded too fast and collapsed under the weight of their own overhead. Others had the idea of a lifetime, got the backing, built a company and then the investment banks just stopped doling out capital to these cash hemorrhaging DotCom nightmares. However, there are some companies who never got too big, make money, have experienced management and still are unable to secure money from investment banks.

Why do small companies, making money not get funding?

For an investment bank to place $300,000-1,500,000,with a fee of 10%, they are only going to make $30,000-$150,000 on the deal. These fees will not cover their expenses. With this in mind, investment banks will not commit the time, the lawyers or the accountants to do the proper due diligence. So, these companies fall below the radar screen. What has aggravated the situation further is the disintegration of the traditional equity markets and early stage venture capital.

How does RWE plan to perform the proper due diligence at an expense ratio that makes sense for such a small investment?

RWE measured approach will provide specific guidelines that will be strictly enforced to allow for proper ongoing due diligence and most importantly financial management. Investment banks and Venture funds typical commit all of their due diligence resources before any deal is consummated.
